Buddy of mine asked me to run this across you guys.. He does have a new mechanical guage. He starts it in the morning and psi is good. He leaves to go somewhere and as the engine warms the psi begins to drop. If he lets off the gas it goes up slightly but not up to normal. If he punches it and holds it he swears he can hear tapping sounds. Oil passages are clear at the top from what we can see with the covers and the intake off.. He has put in two oil pumps, one standard and one high volume. He went from elect guage to mechanical.
Main bearings are shot. When he lets off of it, it removes downward pressure from the bottom of the bearing, letting oil pressure rise slightly. If it's tapping now, before long it will be knocking!
