I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, can I just loosen up one of the bolts on the tensioner so I can slip the alternator bolt the the bracket? check the pic
Wouldn't you want the belt off before you put the bolt in, and then put the belt on? Just a thought. Terry Gates AKA Bossmav
I recognize that pic as being a late model 86-93 5.0 setup...is this correct?? Put a socket on the tensioner, the round thing to the left of the upper radiator hose, you will want a socket and a breaker bar, and pull counterclockwise, this will relieve tension on the belt as the unit is spring loaded and will slide up. you then will be able to slip in the alternator belt. You may have figured this out already, but if you didn't, hope this helped
