Does anyone know if Ford put an adjustable clutch cable on the early Fox stuff. I need one for the T5 in the Mav' and don't want to pay the big $$$ the magazine guys want. BB
You are in luck, I have an 86 Fox and I have done much with the Trans. There isn't really big $$$ involved, unless you are extremely broke. I don't believe they used a manual adjuster on anything that would fit. You can use the stock non-adjustable cable that came with the fox t-5's, however you will need to pick up a firewall adjuster. Steeda sells some nice ones. That way you don't have to crawl under the car to adjust it, just pop the hood and adjust it where it goes into the firewall. Pick up an aluminum quadrant, and you are ready to go. You can purchase both for $100 or under and is worth every penny. Even if Ford did offer an adjustable setup, it won't have a steel quadrant and adjuster and is prone to breakage. http://www.grcperformance.com/ has an adjustable setup like what I am talking about, that is where I got mine. They kind of have a wacky web site, it is best to phone them.
I'm putting a cable set up and T5 in the Maverick with the " Mustang Steve" quadrant. I can't use the firewall adjuster because of clearance, distance, and location. I need the adjustable cable. All the bid $$$ guys are getting them somewhere. I'm lead to believe the early stuff like 79-80 had an adjustable cable.
www.superstallions.com or www.forum.mustangworks.com I gaurantee you will get an answer there. Good luck
I'm pretty sure they never had a adjustable cable. If they did, the aftermarket cables would still be cheaper than the OEM cable from the dealer.
