amperage question

    ok,my head lights are h4 100/110 and as I was experimenting with 2 600W Amp's (4 12's) the ALT red light goes on and off @ times.
    if I turn ON the head lights with the fog lights (h3 120W EA) the red ALT light stays ON.
    what do you guys think is the problem:huh:

    lol, the biggest alternator to ever come factory in a maverick was a 65 amp job, so i dont think it can handle what you have. sounds like you need to kick it up a notch to a 100amp or 130 3G alternator

    Definitely need to upgrade the charging system.

    cool. I forgot to mention I have a 100AMP alternetor so I should go 130?

    That is likely 100 amps max, you might be seeing 60 amps at idle. With the stereo cranked up and the headlights on, your probably drawing around 100 amps. An auto parts store that tests charging systems can probably check the load for an accurate reading.

    Do you using a BIG ground cabe (4 gauge) on the amp's?
