After a good bit of searching, these were the only replacement arms I could find for our cars (I have a 71) besides autokrafters - autokrafter arms were very poor quality and I sent them back. The reviews say they look cheap and that the spring is too heavy for practical use (causes stutter across the windshield) Any suggestions for an alternative to buying these? Current problem: My wipers don't hold against the windshield well enough when going above 30mph. Arms on hand at my local part stores seem to have a different mount for attaching the arm to the nub on the car. Possible solutions: - If someone knows the correct spring size/weight to replace the original in my arms and where to get them (The interwebs has let me down on this) - Or if someone has a part/model number of a replacement arm that will attach to our nub, I'll order a set online
If you have a local mustang shop, stop by and look at the arms for the Mustang... look at part number C6ZZ-17526.
I purchased two sets of Wiper Arms from AK or MELVINS .. can't remember which one now .. ( I'll look it up ) ..anyway they were pretty ' dull ' and the springs were weak . I buffed them on our wheel until they looked like chrome plated then removed the springs from my OLD wiper arms and switched them.. Problem solved ! They look terrific and they adhere to the windshield properly. No loose fit .. no fluttering , or skipping . I've installed a set on MY 70' and my Daughters 72' Mavericks . Don't pitch the old arms.. Save the "original" Springs ! Cometized (Chip)
C6ZZ-17526 is the part number for the AK part I purchased. Looked an felt like a toy to me... I have two sets of original arms I wouldn't mind using if they would hold to the windshield. I assumed the original spring was the problem lol. If the Anco spring is too stiff, and the AK spring is too weak, sounds like I can't get a new spring by buying a new arm... Wish I could find a part number for the original spring and buy a new set of them. I'm not opposed to putting a modern wiper arm on my car, but all of the ones at the part store had a different way of attaching than our cars. Don't suppose there's a mod for this?
