Hello all, hope you are doing well. As many of you know, I have bought a house and have moved into it (finally). Over the last few weeks I have been restoring it. About a week ago, I brought the Might Mav out of storage and into my garage. Very happy, first time in about 10 years I can garage the car. Anyway, it is there waiting for me to start on it. Today my mother comes over to see me and how the house is coming. She(and my sis) were walking around and commenting, enjoying my house, and were very impressed how it was turning out. I was in the back yard playing with my new lawn mower, when my wife comes over and says..Jeremy, come here, you've got to see this, your mom is getting sentimental over the maverick. I run to the garage, and sure enough, she is in there, googling over my mav, bringing back memories, and reminiscing. She says...it even smells inside like I remember. Her parents bought her the car brand new in 72, and she drove it for 20 years straight. When she gave up on it, I already had extreme sentimental attachment, so I took it over, nursing it along, waiting for the day to restore it(I am still waiting, but the day is almost here) Now she hasn't seen it in probably close to 6-8 years. Her seeing that car today made me proud. It made the last 10 years of getting yelled at to move that POS, the last 10 years of being desperate as where to put it, the last years of telling everyone " I swear it will be nice someday", it made the last 10 years worth it. Imagine getting rid of your first family car that served your family for 20 years straight, she came across that car again and she saw it totally unsuspecting, and it made everything worth it.
marc, here is a pic I took a few months ago. It is still in the original condition I got handed to from my mom,( paint is more faded now) Interior is not too bad, but anyway, I am starting on its resurrection now.
great story jeremy, and it looks like you've got a nice car to start with. good luck and congratulations on the new house..
I like the color. This month actually makes 21 years ago that my dad brought home the Maverick. It turns 30 in January. I was 14 at the time and decided right then & there that I wanted that car. And I have it. Glad to hear you're restoring yours, and that it's now in a garage where it BELONGS...
