It's been about a year since I posted anything here, but I'm in the process of getting my Boss 302 Mav back to the track this year. Best run to date was 11.20. I pulled the engine and touched everything up. I then added a Weiand dual tunnel ram with 2 - 850 cfm fully reworked Holleys. It dyno'd out 500 HP at 8700 RPMs (mismatched headers kept it from hitting my projected 550 target). Anyhow, I want to reduce some front end weight and increase engine room by doing the following: cut back the shock towers, modify the upper control arm and top of the shock tower to accept an adjustable coiled strut. This seems like a very simple modification that would reduce 40-50 lbs and provide an additional 4 inches of width in the engine bay. Has anyone done this mod or have any suggestions? I've got the plasma cutter ready to go... GypsyJim
This has been done. Check the pictures from the archives that were up back up last week . You will find 4 pictures detailing this exact change. The archives from the old board are DEFINITELY worth reading through as there is a wealth of good information in them that is still pertinent. Look for the post about the old message board under the General board.
