Year of the Comet is NOT 1970

    Wow guys -

I took your advice and looked over the title for the Comet and realized I had typed it in wrong here at the forum. It is a 1960 not a 1970 - even earlier! Did Mercury make cars that early? Are there any early Comet photos out there anywhere that I could compare?

    Thanks Again!

    Early Mercury's

The Mercury line, I believe, started in 1939. Normally all the Merc's were clones of the Ford's. Your 1960 would resemble the Falcon with maybe a minor differance here and there. .They weighed anywhere from 2399 for the 2dr to 2581 for the 4dr wagon. Came with 144 cubic inch 6cyl engines--90bhp. In 61 you could also get a 170ci--101bhp. Price range in 60 was 1998.00 for the 2dr to 2385 for the 4dr wgn. There were 45000 2dr and 47000 4dr's made. A 2dr wagon is rare because only 5100 were produced. Don't suppose yours is one of those is it? Have a wonderful time with these classics no matter what.
