I've always wanted a Model T, not a street rod, but a nice original one, I have the chance to buy a 1925 Fordor (yes fordor) it's fully restored and running, it's been on display for over 10 years in a resturant, but is started and driven once a year. I know a little about them, but not alot, so is there anything I should be looking for? hard to find parts? It's a Canadian built one so it has a Brass grill. Any help?? Plus it'll look cool sitting between my Mavericks.
There are a few parts manufacturers for model T and model A fords.If you like cable operated brakes(they do work well)magneto ignition systems and manually oiling most of the car on a regular basis,I say go for it!! they are cool cars,Oh and yes 4 or 5 simple hand tools are all you need to work on/maintain/disassemble the whole car.Enjoy it have fun.
I had a 1927 T sedan that I built in to a street rod. They are very strange to drive. The spark advance and throttle are on the steering column. On the floor are three pedals,forward , reverse and brake. What ever pedal you push the hardest will determine what happens. Good Luck
Dave,,, sounds like a nice one. I have a 30 Model A and it is a blast. Very easy to work on, and parts are available on just about everything. Positive ground on the electric. Driving these old cars there are two things to keep in mind. If you see a stop sign, start braking yesterday, they stop slow. Going up big hills can take awhile, but they get there. Dan
hahaha theres a guy that brings an original to the local car cruises, i dont remember all the specs on it but he did a bone stock resto from a shell he picked up 15 years ago. as far down as it was stripped it would have just rodded it. anyway i think he told me HP is somewhere in the neighborhood of 25.
I know if you dont retard the timming when you crank it over, you can break your arm. They used to call it the ford fracture.
