    Mavaholic -

In a prevous post you said that Hooker Comp Headers clear the stock Maverick z-bar and linkage. According to Hookers website they do not work with a Standard Tranmission. What model headers are you using?? Are they the Maverick headers or a different application?? Do you have a picture of how they look installed and what the z-bar clearance looks like?

    Thanks - Dan

I called Hooker about that same question and they really didnt have an answer. I figured it wouldnt fit due to the column shift linkage so I ordered a set. THey fit perfect with my 4 speed and stock z-bar clutch linkage.

That is good news. I am doing the exact same swap - Toploader with the stock clutch linkage and z-bar ...

    Thanks ...

Call Jegs or Summit,,, I bought mine from one of them. The Super Comps were on backorder from one of the other. But both gave me the same part number. Wish I could find my dang sales ticket on that order.

Will post a pic of my headers and the z-bar this weekend

I called Jegs,, they had record of what I purchased. For Hooker Headers the part # from Jegs is 520-6901.

    Thanks -

Yup - according to the chart on JEGS website these header work with Standard or Automatic transmission on the floor.

Both Hookers website and Summit Racing indicate they will not work with any standard transmission and only A/T on the floor.

    Thanks ....

Now if only the ceramic coating wasn't almost and extra $200!!!

Do the standard black coated headers stand up to rust pretty good??

Also - will I need to lower the Power Steering Cylinder with these headers??

My headers are already rusty, but I am gonna pull the engine for detailing and will get them ceramic coated then.

    Mavaholic -

Ever get a pic of that z-bar clearance. I'm getting ready to plunk down $350 on the ceramic coated Comp headers - part 6901.

    Thanks - Dan

Sorry Dan, forgot all about it. Its hard to get a camera in that area so this is the best I can do. Despite how it looks, the zbar dosent touch the headers at all.

    Cool

Looks like there is one pipe above the bar and 3 pipes below the bar. Obviouisly the z-Bar must be removed to get the headers in and then reinstalled after the headers are mounted. Is this what you did? Did you dissamble the z-bar when you did it or was it able to fit in one piece. Thanks ... Dan

The Z bar is split into 2 pieces. You have to put the frame side into position before installing the headers, and then the engine side after the headers. Then bolt the 2 halves together.
