Well, I got back to the track with the new cam and it seems to have picked the car up some.....it went a 6.35@111 mph. so the 5's aren't real far away!!! here's a picture of me leaving the line on the 6.35 pass!!!
That looks awsome I plan on racing my 71 comet gt what is your engine set-up like and what size slicks are you using?
here's video footage..... Thanks for the support guys! The engine, like Charlie said is a 347 stroker with Victor Jr. aluminum heads and a "BIG" solid roller.... stock suspension with racing shocks and Cal Trac bars on a 26"x10" slick......that's the biggest tire allowed in my class! Here's a link to the video footage from the 6.35 run....... http://home.kc.rr.com/maverickmatt/mooreSM.mpg
oh, I forgot, charlie I was spraying about a 200 shot on that run.....still lots of tuning to be done and I am confident that the 5 second range is not far away!! remember, this was the first trip to the track on the new valvetrain!!!
Hey do you think you could do a little bigger burnout there John Force LOL. That was cool man your car flat leaves. Hey just wondering what does your car run on just the motor.
I made a motor pass just before the NOS pass and it ran a 7.19 @ 96 mph., that's the best time ever on the motor and I think I can get it down to a 7 flat.....yeah, the burnout was excessive, but it was getting a little chilly at the track and I wanted to get them nice and hot.....looking back it was way too big though!!
I Like it! Matt?- That was tough! Keep working at it, you'll get in the 5's in no time! I have never seen any post on what is under your hood, give your grocery list. Seth
By the way... What track is that? I live in NC myself, the Raleigh area. It's hard to tell in the video, is there someone riding shotgun with you? That was cool. Seth
Seth, Hello there, that was Shadyside dragstrip in Boling Springs NC. Just west of Charlotte near Shelby. Nobody was riding with me on that pass, I probably won't start giving joy rides until I get it tuned in better! the engine is as follows: 347 stroker, Victor Jr. aluminum heads CNC prepared by Coast High Performance w/ 2.05 int. 1.60 exh. "Ferrea" racing valves and Titanium retainers. Probe custom pistons, 10.5:1 compression, .644" lift solid roller, Victor Jr. intake, port-matched by me. 775 Race Demon RS carburetor, NOS "BIG SHOT" nitrous system, "Performance Automatic" C4, ATI 8" converter, aluminum driveshaft, 9" w/ disc brakes and 4.56 gears, mosier axles, roll cage, racing seats, racing harnesses, fiberglass hood and rear bumper. I'm sure i've left some things out but that's about it......By the way, i'm the NC state rep. and would like to take this opportunity to invite you to Ford day at the Mooresville dragstrip on Nov. 2. We hope to have a good turnout of Mav's and Comets and would love to have you come!! There will be a 10.5" Outlaw race w/ Billy Glidden and I will be competing in the "Real Street" race!! I will be posting additional information in the events section on this board!!!
Hmmmm....not sure! Matt- I seriously doubt that I will be through with mine by that point. I have had it out of the paint shop since last Dec., the short block is built, interior is being put back together-1 hour at a time here and there-by me. I really need to go through the front end before I put the motor in it. The C-4 is built and ready to go. I have the stock rear end, but have not located what I would prefer to have in it yet. On top of that I've been helping my Dad restore his '68 390FE shortbed Ranger since June. I go to his house and his tasks seem to take priority. The last 2 saturdays have been spent in front of a buffing wheel with his aluminum trim pieces. I'll keep it in mind though. Did you go to Charlotte a couple of weeks back? Seth
sorry, I forgot to tell you....My name is Stephen, you must have me confused with someone else. If you mean the dragstrip when you say Charlotte then yes, I was at Shadyside a couple weeks back.
