Someone said something in an earlier post about nailing a hole in the blower motor and spraying lube in there to get rid of a squeal due to a dry bearing. I have that squeal problem, but I don't know exactly where to poke the hole at. I don't really want to have to buy a new blower motor if I don't have to, so any help would be great!

awww just buy the motor. if the bushing or bearing is that dry and worn, the brushes and commutator HAVE to be on their last legs. and while you have it out, put in a new heater core. they're only 40 something dollars.

if your car has no ac, a heater core is around 40 bucks and the blower around 25-30. i bought a fuel pump from them and was happy with the service. it took about 10 days to get my stuff.

being that my mom was the original owner of my maverick, I have quite some memories.

The blower motor in our mav went out right around the end of the 70's or so. However, it never quite went out completely.

It did that squeel you are referring too. We called it our "bird"

damn thing sounded like a squeeling bird. I can't tell you how many friends I fooled into thinking that a bird had flown into the grill, and his ghost was haunting the air conditioning!! Man, when you are little, you will believe anything.

Don't count on that thing going out anytime soon. 25 years later, I am still on that same blower motor, and it sings to me just the same. A trait I will never fix--some good memories there.
