i know this isnt my maverick but i trust you guys.

i just got a 1973 f250 2wd truck for 700 bucks i bought it just for the fact of it having a strongly built 429 that runs great. only thing is the guy who i bought it said a stock local parts store torque converter will no hold the power. im thinking of having the trans rebuilt while i get a heavy duty torque converter. but trying to do it budget. what can i check on the c6 to see if it will be safe still?

Are you towing with this truck? How much hp you think engine has? If towing, a higher stall will run hot and drive you crazy! A good tranny shop oughta be able to fix you up on both inless you have mega hp.

What exactly is the problem now? Sounds sorta shaky,,,

We are guessing around 450hp it you can put it in gear and nothing happens so I'm guessing torque converter

I got the truck to flip fix it up and sell it it's solid no to little rust and strong motor

Look in the Summit or Jegs catalog and see what they've got for something about 2500 for the street. Any higher and you're going to be paying big bucks and you don't know what any new buyer wants. More money you put in to it and the more money you're going to need to get for it. More money in is less for you.:)

You think I will be OK without the transmission being rebuilt as long as I see no metal flakes in the transmission pan and oil???

If your just flipping it, I would have tranny shop go through it. No use junking a new converter and c6 is cheap to rebuild or work on.
If you have tranny shop look at transmission first, you may not need a converter just flushed out.
