Has anyone read the article in this month's Mustang and Fords on using adhesive to bond unibody panels? I haven't had time to look at it, but they re-installed a cowl panel using this adhesive, so it must be pretty good stuff.
I have read about it and I believe Eastwood sells it. Its probably a great alternative but i'll continue to weld.
Next time I do a panel replacement I will use the adhesive. Supposed to save lots of time, I will see. Dan
I have used it. It is strong stuff. All Mercedes-Benz are built with this stuff (I heard). Great for glueing on a door skin instead of welding it, or great for glueing on a quarter panel to hold it in place......while you go and weld along the roof sail. VERY BAD for rust repair panels. I used it on my station wagon and every repair panel has "flexed" and cracked the body filler and paint. I should have welded on those pieces because welds don't flex!!
Good Stuff. The guy that painted my Comet does collision repair for a living. He says this stuff is really strong and easy to work with. Lots of cars use this from the factory according to him. Seth
Saw the article, and all I can say is that I am really glad I bought a California car with clean cowls. Man that looks like a lot of work!
