Hey guys. I was pulling the steering components apart for some detail work and I broke this part. I pulled the ball out of the socket and now I can't get it put back in. I also am having a hard time seeing how to dissassenble this thing. It connects to the drivers side of the drag link and has power steering hoses connected to it. The question is what is the part called and is this repairable or do I need another one? Thanks

That's the brains of your power steering, called the control valve. It controls the operation of the power-assist slave cylinder. They are rebuildable, but I don't know that I would want to try to do it. If they're not just right, they won't work at all.

Thanks for helping me out Matt. I'll see what I can do about finding another one. Here's another pic of why I'm detailing the steering. We're trying to get everything right. Thanks again.

In most cases that can be repaired. You just put more pressure on it then the retaining spring could hold. You'll notice a small coil type spring inside the housing where the ball socket came out of. That spring holds tension on the ball socket to retain it in the housing. You'll also notice that there is a screw at the end that will allow you to adjust the spring tension on the ball socket. You should be able to back off the tension adjustment, reinstall the ball socket & the tighten back down the spring tension. The point is without this spring, the ball socket would fall out on its' own, so you didn't really break it. Hope this helps.

I know where you can find one...

... P-S-T carries them. (www.p-s-t.com) Performance Suspension Technology carries them. If I remember correctly they are $199.
Pricey, but you may need one if you can't rebuild yours.

AutoKrafters carried them and both of these places carry the slave cylinder as well. 800-228-7346

GS that's the problem. I see the spring and I agree with you on what it does. I also think that something ( a screw or nut probably) is there to adjust it. However, there's the catch. I've put about every wrech on that screw that I have that will fit and even resorted to channel locks, that stupid screw won't budge. There has to be something else to it. I don't want to totaly destroy it trying to take it apart. I've tried pressing the ball back in and that doesn't work. Also I'm concerned that if it came out once it may come out again at the wrong time. Have you got any ideas about loosening that dang screw? Thanks
