    Hi all,

Have a 72 Comet with the 250 six. Experimenting with different carbs and may just swap out sicks for a V8. I have a Lokar cable but it is designed to use a bracket at the carb. I would like to run a kickdown cable from the pedal and not have to adapt it to whatever carb I'm using. I think that some Mustangs have a pedal with the kickdown connected to it. Any ideas?

I believe the 67-68 Mustangs use the throttle linkage with the kick down attached to it. If I remember right they do not use a throttle cable, but the kickdown is a cable attached to the pedal linkage. I would think at a minimum you would have to adapt a Mustang pedal and linkage, or fabricate one from scratch.

Likely Mustangs & I know '68-'69 Fairlanes used a crank assembly with a "hanging" lever and attachment for a shortish cable to kickdown lever... I dunno if that lever would readily fit a Maverick/Comet, requires approx 1.5" opening in firewall and boot to seal it... Easiest would probably be use the kickdown rod from carb to transmission that was in use approx 1970... Of course those require a cable operated throttle assembly...
