hey again.i was wondering if you guys could help out here..i need to replace the frond disk brake calipers.....so how do you do it?? do you know of any good sites or books that will help me out? i took the tires off my mav and looked around. but i dont see were they come off at..thanx for you help guys!-james
I used a Chilton's - detailed very nicely. BTW - I bought rebuilt calipers from AutoZone and they only include the Piston side - you must disassemble your original calipers and keep the other side to re-use ...
I gotta give you props for your determination to be a learner on this. Not many people are willing to stick it all the way through, you seem to be able to stick with it though. did you ever get the brakes blead properly??? Even though, as soon as you remove the calipers and put new ones on, you will have to bleed again. Have never changed a mav caliper before, but have done a million different cars before. There are always to bolts to look for. Usually they are right on the front, one on each end of the caliper, goes all the way through and bolts to the suspension on the other side. Usually it has a normal head on it, but I have seem some to take a sort of star key, doubt that on your car. On rare occasions you will see the bolts on the backside instead of the front. good luck once again.
hey! hey guys..thanx for your help..yeah i really want to learn how to do these kind of things myself, and im not one to give up easy. i didnt get them bleed right..so thats whyim going to put the new calipers on..the bleeder nipples are ruined from the previous owner using too big of a rench on them...all of my tools just slide over them and i cant get a grip! well talk to you later. thanx-james
