Seems like I have been burning up the message boards with questions lately! Ok...I am building a 302 for the Mav. I originally was going to go with the 268H comp cams package but thanks to everyone here that may have changed. I have decided with a little help from everyone here, that I am going to put a 4spd in the mav. Here's the specs: ported stock heads 9.4:1 compression stock valves with rollers rockers long tube headers 30 over bore holley 600 3.00 gears 4spd toploader So, should I stick with the 268H that I was going to use with the c4 or something different for the 4sp. I would like the car to be able to idle please. This will be a daily driver. Thanks Jim
are you looking for a solid flat-tappet, hydraulic flat-tappet, or one of the rollers? I'd shoot for something along the lines of about 230 duration @ .050", around .525" lift, 108-110 lobe separation angle. Should work well with the 4-speed.
I've got a 268 in my 302. Build specs- 302 bored +40 268 cam/lifters long tube headers still got motorcraft 2bbl though all new bearings Think that's it, but I probably forgot something. Even with the 2 bbl., I got 103 in the quarter on the highway, and have run it over 130 (no I'm not just spouting off at the mouth either ) With this cam, the engine lopes nicely. I get a lot of comments on the way the engine runs and sounds. Good luck with the project. Country
it is going to be hydraulic cam. Cant afford the fancy stuff or I would go with a roller. If the 268h has a lope to it, I doubt I will want to go anymore radical. Still....a little more cam cant hurt, can it?? Jim
