Can I hookup volt gauge here

    to the 'F' terminal on my alternator? and is it ok it's still the smaller size wire for the gauge?

    I wouldn't. You will get a better real world reading hooking it up to the radio feed wire or fuse box. be sure it is a switched hot wire...not constant hot. A volt meter works with a small wire, an Amp gauge uses thick wires

    ok why is it not the best spot though
    also fuse box is constant power, no?

    Because the gauge will be working 24/7 and it will kill the battery.
    Not all fuses are hot all the time...some are hot only when the key is switched to ON or ACC

    1972 Comet GT clone 306 . 1969 Fairlane Cobra 428CJ 1988 T-Bird awaiting 331 ..
    I have mine connected to the supply for the seatbelt light that orig mounted under dash, long since MIA...

    Due to voltage drop in the wiring it no doubt reads a ½v or so low, but I don't really care if it reads 14 or 14.5v when charging... Either way I know alternator is working...
