What capacity, what brand name, 2 posts or 4 posts? Other important information needed. I've never had a lift, so I'm kind of groping in the dark as to what to ask in order to make up my mind.
All suggestions and info about a lift will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jerry

If you are going to get a 4 post,Make sure it is a quality piece. The ones I have seen are flimsey looking. Also with a 4 post you still need a jack of some sort if you want to take the wheels off on the lift.I would get a 2 post 9 ton with (Asemmetrical arms. Two long arms and two short arms that go under the car. When folded they all go in the same direction, usually to the rear of the car)Symmetrical lifts are cheaper but suck for short wheel base cars (like mavericks)Or full size pick ups.You dont neccessarily need a 9 ton wut it will handle anything you trow at it short of a fire truck.Weight limit depends on what you plan on putting on it.Hope this helps, good luck.

where are you putting it? inside/outside
what are you going to pick up with it? (gross lbs.)
how tall is ...where you are going to put it? (if inside)

    my roof center 12'
i can raise my mav.all the way up with the hood and trunk open.
they set it 1' off center to the front of the car.
the 2 post asemetrical lift gives you more options of things you can do...brake jobs, tire rotations, shock replacement, rear end housing swaps and you can open both doors all the way open :thumbs2:

    JFF ...ILML...ILMAOD...ILMRDB...

we have two lifts in the shop. the bend pack in awsome. the western sucks!!! I would buy another bend pac any day. also i recomnd rotory, or foutian hosts. you defintly get what you pay for in hoits. if you keep an eye out for a shop closing they will usually be selling the used hoists for between 200 to 500 bucks. If can find a hoist installer, they usally have our know of some good used hoists aslo.

    Up from the dead, lol

I'm thinking of getting a 4 post (I guess because they're easier to move if need be, and they don't require rigid floor mounting?). I only have a 9' ceiling. Has anyone used a lift with a ceiling that low? I guess I could use a rolling chair to work underneath if the floor of the car was too low? Input?

I work in a 9 ft ceiling garage everyday at work...It s!#%s for doing anything other than brake jobes/exhaust.4 posters need to be secured to the floor as well as any 2 post lift.(they will tip over:yup:)Drive on ones make it difficult to do brakejobes/tranny/exhaust/suspension work.Get a good 2 post asymmetrical lift, you will be much better off.
