my carburetor is leaking fuel out of the fuel bowl vent & around the top of the fuel bowl. about 2 weeks ago it was leaking the same way, but it quit after i rebuilt the carburetor last weekend. after a few days of driving, it leaks again. any suggestions?

maybe the float is set too high and the float valve isn't shutting to stop the flow of fuel?

yep, he is likely right, your float is not set right

your rebuild kit should have come with a little cardboard guide showing you where to set it, however, you can just pull the lid off for now, and bend it down a little, that should lower the float level a little.

careful though, bend it down too much, and it'll stall you out in the middle of a freeway.

I agree. The floats are probably set too high. One other possibility, if you are running too high a fuel pressure, the fuel will run through the needle and seat regardless of the float level. I believe that Holleys operate best at 5-7 PSI. Electric fuel pumps can put out excessive pressure that, in a deadheaded system, force the fuel through the carb, bending the adjustment tab if necessary, until fuel pours out any available opening. The best fix is a pressure regulator set at an appropriate pressure level.
