Did it change some where /some time? I have two sets of 14" rims. One fits, the other its to small and wont go over the center hub. I know my back end is out of a 73. Just seems weird one set is too small.

NO difference in hub size drum or disc(popular misbelief). Spindle size increased in 1970, thus hub size increased. My '69 Cobra(with disc) has smaller spindles & hubs than did my drum brake '72 Comet.

Well the rear is from a 73 Maverick and the tires are supposed to be off a 72 maverick. They don't fit. Trying to find out what year the rust ones are from.

Guy says the rusty ones are off a 74, they fit.

Yes, there where 2 different size center hole on factory steel rims, along with Hub size 2.43" and 2.78" My factory original 14" steel rims from my 73 Comet (2.43") with Front Drums Brakes, would not fit on my 74 Comet (2.78") with Front Disc Brakes.
From all the rear axles I had, ones with 3 holes in hub where 2.43" and ones with large oval 2.78"
