My '71 Mav is a 250 with auto. I was thinking of changing it to a T-5. I am in the process of doing this on a '63 Ranchero, but I have some questions.

I've read that I need a 302 bell housing is that true?

Does the 250 have the part for the Z-bar like the smaller 6's?

What trans mount do I need?

What flywheel works? 250 only or will the 200 or 302 work?

Will the clutch peddle assembly from a stick Mav bolt up?

Ok, what else did I forget?

Anyone done this swap yet to a 250?

    Thanks,

The 250 bell housing is the same as the 302. The Z bar and end pivots are the same for all the 6's. The frame has the holes drilled and tapped for the frame side and alll 6's should have the hole drilled and tapped for that side. Any clutch pedal assembly out of a Maverick or Comet will work, they are all the same. Flywheel from a 250 or 302 will work. I dont think they are the same as the 170/200 but I'm not real sure about that. I think they may have had smaller diameter clutches. You will have to fabricate a rear mount. The T5 is further rearward. This swap will be almost identical to your Falcon swap so it should have all the same modifications needed.

That all sounds good. The 170 flywheel is small and only accepts an 8 1/2" clutch. It is also recessed rather then flat. The 200 is flat and takes a 9" clutch. Is the 250 and 302 flywheel ballanced the same?

The rear mount I have is from Windsor/Fox and it bolts to the body cross member just in front of the seat.

    Thanks again for the info.
