    Hello Everyone

Has anybody ever successfully changed an oil pan gasket on a 302 while it's still in the car?

Was not a problem for me to do it, took off under engine cross member took bolts out of idler arm allowing it to drop down and I believe I had to loosen starter bolts to allow it to move a little. This was done on a power steering car. I used the Felpro gaskets that come with the little alignment stands and was a breeze to do install, sorry cant remember the number right off hand but I sure someone else will chime in with it and some more advice

FYI before you re install the pan take a look at the rails of the oil pan and make sure they are flat and not pulled in around bolt holes from over tightening them, it does not take very much torque to deform the pan rails.

MaverickMike is right. F.Y.I. later model 302's had additional oil pan rails to lessen deformation of the pan. You can sometimes come across them on ebay, but you will need longer bolts.
