What is the best way to check the cowl vents? They are hard to get at with out minor surgery.

inside floor rust is a good tip off, you should be able to see them from under the dash, or at least the driverside. i was told when i bought my car that the windshild leaked, that should have been my tip off. turned out to be the vent. i pulled about 10 pounds pine needles, field mouse nesting and leaves out of it, not to mention where else im finding that crap lol. anytime you look for a new mav bring a good flashlight lol. other then that you need to take off the fenders and do the minor sergury.. if anyone else got tricks to checking that, im interested too, this won't be my last old ford lol.

That repair kit is nothing more than plastic collars that you silicone in from the bottom. Wont do a thing to stop the rust and even if it seals, it wont be long before the rust eats through a little more metal to start the leaking again.
