Sorry but i got another stupid question. My Mav has been having trouble running since it was purchased last November. The problem with it is it always chokes out when it is running. It starts up no problem, even after sitting for a week or so, but once it has run for a while it starts trying to choke out unless i have my foot constantly on the gas. it chokes out when going slow in turns and it chokes out when it idles. also, when it starts choking out and chugging, the whole engine shakes and all around the Mav it has a STRONG exhaust smell. I know the exhaust system needs replaced, the muffler is falling apart with rust, and there is holes on the pipe leading upto the engine. The fuel pump is new and gas is flowing. the carburator has been rebuilt, but i have heard it might be running too pure. my question is, is this problem caused by the exhaust system alone? is there anything else that could cause this? also on the carburator, the butterfly tends to stick and i sometimes gotta prop it open and poor gas in to start it. any help would be appreciated. again no wise remarks please, still new to all this and looking for help.

sounds like your float is sticking, running rich.did you try adjusting the choke plate?also check your timing.as for your last post, drop in a 302!you can just about do anything to these motors,to make decent power.like atzyl said don't bend over backwards to find an interceptor, just a plain jane 302 will work, and build it the way you want.there are many people on the board with alot of expeirence, and know how,and i am sure are willing to help you out.that what everyone is here for.good luck. chuck.
