Cigarette lighter question

    My car is not equipped with a factory cigarette lighter. I would like to add one for the 12 volt power source. Does the factory harness have a built in plug for one or will I have to splice it? If there is a factory plug, can I access it by removing the ash tray?

    Yes, I used factory wire. I used a gig lighter out of a 98 Taurus I had for parts. Worked fine. Yes, I accessed mine through ash tray, as per picture.

    AFAIK all Mav/Comet dash harness had provisions for the cigarette lighter.

    Good info. I had not considered using a late model one. Thanks for the replies.

    I have had harnesses from 69.5 and up - all had the lighter plug.
