Looks like the average person or mechanic can't clean a cloged injector. IS there a way? My daughter's 95 Grand Am has 3 that don't spray and 1 that dribbles. Oreiley wants $131 ea!!
Went through that with my 5.0 before i decided to go carb. Go to the junk yard and pull a fuel rail off another grandam. Put the new injectors on till you get 3 that spray well. Pullapart is where i got mine like 20.00 for the rail and injectors. A whole lot cheaper. Good luck.
yes, I've cleaned clogged injector by soaking them in laquer thinner they have a tiny screen on the feeding top end with a small brush you can clean it up. it worked for me!
Witch hunter does an excellent job. I had a set done for my 86 4Runner. The only problem is that you have to be able to have the car sit for a while while you wait to get them back. It was only a few days as I recall. It was around $15-18 per injector as I recall. http://www.witchhunter.com/ As far as home remedies, I have no idea.
I tried that today actualy. I went to the ONE jy here and he told me $10 ea. I was like YYEEA!! Not 1 fuel rail in the yard. I looked at maybe 8 different cars too. I am gonna try to go to some bigger ones in Dallas tomorrow, but it wasn't on my list of things to do so...
I will try this. Seems very reasonable. I just wish I knew if they were worth the process. I have heard that I can ohm them, but not sure if that's true or what the reading should be. $18 ea to clean is great tho.
ive always taken a small plastic bowl and a can of berryman B-12 chemtool and soaked them over night with good results giving them a shake every once and a while.A long sheetmetal screw can be used to remove the injector screens (they pull out easy without damage by hand this way)just dont thread them in with force (aka: screw driver)use your fingers. hope this helps.
Look at the inlet should see a small lip on the inside.(for lack of better description)the screen itself is very very small and fine. The exception here is if it is a GM 2.2 they use a side feed injector i believe the 2.4 uses a top feed
Yes. They do have a good price. My daughter works at Sonic on the weekends and so that puts her on a limited income. She said she is ok with waiting for the witch hunt deal. I figure I will try to do the soak cleaning that was mentioned before I box them up later today. I NEED to finish reading thru all the posts first tho . Thanks for all the replys guys
Believe me, it kills me that I am not. I bought her the car and I also put a motor in it. She squanders her money and needs to learn responsibility. She moved out to live with her looser boyfriend who has threatened to "beat me with a golf club" and has also threatened to shoot her mom. Because of him she has quit school (junior year). He SHOULD be the one fixing her car, giving the situation. She texted me saying/asking if I could help her CAR if I didn't hate her. That's troubling to me cause I don't see how she would ever think I hate her. Her, her son and my son are what I live for...and my Comet . I truly live a soap opera life here in Marietta .
