Are there any owners here running the oval Cobra style carburetor air filter?

I am working on it, but I have a couple of inches of interference with the lip of the firewall.

I know that I can make an offset lower plate that will work, but I was thinking that maybe someone makes one that I can buy instead.

    Thanks-
    Seth

No answer.......but on a side note.......

Seth, you have got to get that car done and bring it to the MCCI Round-Up. Not just because it's a Comet, either!!! :)

    WOW!!! That looks nice!!!

Its been a long time since my comet was stock under the hood .

What is that doodad beside the charcoal canister and for that matter the thing above it ?

They look like a linelock and a fuel reg to me but not sure.

the doo-dad beside the cannister is the bay side of the a/c evaporator where the lines hook up. the doo-dad above it is the heater valve that bypasses the heater core when the a/c is on. Oh, how I wish mine were hooked up. It was 105 in KC today!

    Doodads...

You are right on identifying those items.
The part sticking through the firewall is
the expansion valve attached to the coil
    for the A/C.

I probably will not put the A/C on it this
year as I plan to buy one of the aftermarket
kits from someone like Vintage Air.

I understand that their compressors work
much better and that they give less drag.
