OK, I know several of you have switched from an automatic to a 4 or 5 spd! I have a 77 auto with power brakes and I know the pedal assembly and bracket are different than the older stick shift pedal assembly (other than the pedals themselves). Has anyone made the change from auto to stick when dealing with power brakes? If so, what did you do about the pedal assembly? Did you switch to manual disc brakes? Help!

You can not retain the stock power brake set up and go to a manual transmission. The power brake pedal arm comes down the left side of the column where the clutch needs to be. Your going to have to go to manual or modify something else.

    Mavaholic- Thanks!
One more question- To convert to manual disk brakes do I simply need to swap the booster/master cylinder for a manual master cylinder? Sorry one more question. Did Ford ever produce a maverick with power brakes and a stick?

Manual transmission equipped Mavericks only came with a 3-speed and non-power assisted brakes...

And yes, just go with a manual master cylinder. I dont know if there is a difference in the master cylinder between power and manual brakes. If not, then its just a matter of removing the booster. Also get the shock tower support from the nonpower brake car.

The manual and power-assist master cylinders are not the same.

Been down that road about 13 years ago--you're in for a lotta "fun"...

You will also have to reroute/bend up some new lines to the master cyl.

You will need a "proportioning " valve out of a disk car to properly control the pressure to the back brakes or front brakes depending on how you look at it . Your front brakes will need less pressure to do the same amount of stopping after you switch and if you dont put the valve in the back brakes will be doing a disproportionate amount of braking causing bad things like the rear wheels locking before the front .

The car already has the proportioning valve. All power brakes on Mavericks were disc.
