I bought a set of cragar s/s mags in 15x8 for the front and 15x10 for the back of my '76 maverick 2 door and i'm not able to put the rims on the car yet because it's getting painted does anyone know if they will fit.
15X8 rears are pushing my maximum limits on 245/60r15s. I have 255 on there now, and rub on takeoff. I don't know if you can get a 10" wide rim under there without at least rolling your fender lips...
i'm putting shackles on the back of the car to pick it up so it won't rub but the front has me worried
Worried? I'd be more worried about shackles. Do a Google for 'dangers of shackles' or just search here. I too think 8's in 15 diameter is getting a little wide. 10's may work depending on backspacing, tire size and rear width. Seth
When I dropped my front end, I used my 15X8 rims with 245/60 tires as an approximation to see where the car would sit. They fit on there just fine on the front. I did NOT drive or even turn the steering wheel, so all I am saying is that if you put 245/60r15 on Cragar 15s, the car will go straight just fine
I agree, shackles are very dangerous. I used to pull myself out from under the car and bang my forehead on them all the time Personally, I just think they are ugly, and I have the right to say that because I used them for a couple years. They served their purpose (to lift the rear up so my side-pipes would drag on the ground) but I would never recommend them to others. What are the dangers? (Too lazy to Google...)
They act as levers for the rear springs against the frame. Puts more stress on the mounting holes in the rear frame area. I have seen holes wallowed from shackles.
i have 245/60/14 on the back of my '77 with 14x8 Crager's and it's a tight fit. good luck with the 10's
