if you have old worn tires can you just throw them out with the trash or is there a more "enviromentaly safe" way to dispose of them? keep in mind theses are just the rubber tires with no rim. I know alot of automobile waste products like coolent, batterys and oil need to be disposed of properly but does that include tires?
Yes they are a environmental hazard. Your local tire is the best place to rid of, gonna cost you a couple bucks.
yea alot of the tire stores around here charge a $3 disposal fee but i didnt know if that was just a way to get a few extra bucks out of you or save you the headache of taking the old ones home with you. wonder if they'll take them at my school's shop? (doing a little cleaning this week )
As Donnie Baker says,,, It's a state law, I swear it is. Been that way for numerous years. I think it's federal law on tire clean up fund
Better than here, 4 a year, after that it is $5 tire, and that is per household. I have about 12 years worth! rk
Take them to your local tire store when they are closed. leave them in the parking lot......they'll take care of them for ya...lol
the dumps out here won't take them. they watch when i dump a roll off truck and if there are any tires in them, they make me take them out. i take them back and dump them at the place they came from. if i can't take them back we'll send you a bill.
LOL I did the exact same thing at Tires Plus when I had new tires put on the '72. Guy said there was a tire disposal fee, so I threw them in the trunk, came back later that night and tossed them in the pile.
In Oklahoma, the law requires that a tire waste disposal fee is collected regardless of if you keep the old tires or not. The tire waste disposal fee is on NEW tires, not the old ones.
