    Hello,
I need to replace the hinge pins in my '74 Maverick.
I have a set I purchased from Auto Krafters, this weekend I went to remove the door by taking out the two bolts on each hinge that bolt the hinge to the door. Once I loosened them I noticed that they were free to float around in the hinge hole. I don't know if the threaded backing plate behind the door is free to float like this or not. I did not want to completely remove the bolts because the plate may fall down into the door. Is this plate free to move slightly but still captured in place without the bolts?

Yes... The plate is free to move around for adjustment purposes. 99% of the time the plate will stay in place on the door soo...No worries, go ahead and fix them.

OK Frank...LOL...The one in the pillar will stay put too...99% of the time. They are easy to access if they don't.
