I went out and talked to the track today.

First off...due to liability issues and legal issues, the drag racing on Thursday evening is TOTALLY the driver's resposibility. The MCCI assumes NO responsibility whatsoever. This event is NOT sponsored by the MCCI, but is put on by the drag racers that race themselves and at their sole responsiblity. You WILL have to sign a waiver not only for the track, but for the MCCI as well.

That was the legal mumbo jumbo stuff....now on to the fun stuff.

There will be Mavericks and Comets drag racing on Thursday, July 27, 2003 at the Muncie Dragway from 5pm to 9pm (or until darkness). To have them fire up the lights for nitetime drag racing costs an extra $200 for the nite.

There will be racing fuel available at a nearby gas station and at the track. The can not fill NOS bottles.

They do not have a set of scales.

They can have an ambulance on duty for $35 an hour.

Otherwise, looking at $50 per drag racer....maybe less if more drag racers show up, maybe more if we get the ambulance.

General admission for spectators will be FREE for MCCI members and their family members, etc., $20 per person for non-MCCI members. Drag Racers will be $50 (or less as stated above) for MCCI members or $20 more for non-MCCI members.

Bottomline....must be a club member to participate.

More info about the facilities can be found at Muncie Dragway Website

    Questions????Email me at: cselvey@netdirect.net

I'll admit...I don't know the first thing about drag racing, but I am willing to learn...and this is a great way to do it.

It's official!!! It's on the Muncie Dragway calendar!! Braggin' rights are on the line!!!

    Just had a few thoughts...

Will they have someone running the christmas tree? How about the water box? How about time slips? WIll they have someone there to do that? I am sure all of this is covered with the rental fee, just thought I would ask. Also, I might be the only one that feels this way, but I am willing to pay my share of the extra money to have a ambulance there....you just never know!

I am sure they will have a full staff of people there to do all those things John.

As far as the Ambulance....that is up to everybody and their wallet.

Most of the time when you rent a track they have everyone there to run the needed things....tree, water box, time slips.

I am also in for a the ambulance....better safe then sorry.

How about food for the night.....I have a small gas grill I can through in or is Craig buying Pizza....lol:D

Sounds good, I will be on vacation next week and I do not have a computer at home, so when you get it all figured out, just give me a call. Do you have my #???? It's in the MCCI newsletter.

Can't make it this year, work you know. Everyone have a safe journey to and from the event, and a ball while you are there.

I will do that Todd, is there only 1 Scottsburg exit? And where do you want to meet at? Perferably a place with plenty of parking. :D
