They should be the same length. Mine started as a 200 with 3 spd manual, went to 302 with a c4, then to a 302 with a Borg Warner T10 4 spd, and finally a 302 with a toploader 4 speed. The same drive shaft fit every one.

Thats definately not enough. It should go all the way in untill it bottoms out, then only be pulled back between 3/4 to 1 1/2" when seated in the yoke.

Frank is the car sitting on it's wheels or is the rear axel hanging down. Maybe if the rear is hanging down too far the drive shaft is pulling out of the tranny. If the weight of the car was on the rear springs shouldn't that make the yoke move farther into the tranny???? Just thinking out loud. Russ

Thats strange 71...I used the same shaft on the swap too...no prob...shaft is about 5 inches up in the tranny showing about 1" of clean shaft.

I avoided all the questions by having a custom 3" dia. drive shaft built for my 72 the stock 6 cyl. shaft got the wobbles at high power.
