I've got the factory Am radio, single dash speaker in my '73 and I'd like to hide an aftermarket CD player in the glove box. Only issue I'm seeing is the single speaker in the dash. Back when I had a '62 Chevy pickup with a similar setup, I found a kit for sale that replaces the single speaker with 2 small, oval ones. Does anyone make a kit for these cars to do that? Or have any of you guys made a setup like that?I want to leave the car looking as factory as possible, the only wire I'll leave on the stock radio will be the illumination wire. I'm not going for killer sound quality, I just want something that can pick up FM radio and play CDs

there are some available mostly through the mustang venders and if you do a search on dash speakers there are some listed here. I used one can not remember which vender but it is a dual cone single mount. you pull out the old speaker mount the new speaker to the original mount and bolt it back in it is simple as long as the bottom of the dash and the defroster tube is out.

That's perfect! When you said that 4 holes had to be drilled, were those just the 4 mounting ear holes for the speaker?

I used the same speaker but did not have to make any holes it bolted right to factory bracket.

Kind of a cool idea, but I fear the hot sun would beat the hell out of it.
