Im considering eventually going fuel injected with my car so where are you guys that run factory style fuel injection mounting your ecu?
Thanks for the idea micah thats a very nice car you have i can only hope mine will be that nice when im done
Thanks, it is just money and time, plus a little insanity. Cannot take credit for the mounting idea. Someone on the list threw it out. That was the only good location I could find. I hear others have put it behind the dash. I wish the box was a little bigger. It is a tight fit. Also, think about an easy mounting system for the ECU. It is tough to get in there and a pain to get out. I used the Ford Racing harness. It is made by Dunn-Rite. If I were to do it again, I would contact them about adding six to ten inches to the harness by the ECU. It barely reached and is a PIA to get in and out. If you go with an electric fan, I highly recommend the Dakota Digital controller. If you tune, take a look at the Moates chip. Add a second bung to the exhaust for a wideband O2. You can feed the signal through the unused EGR wire to the ECU. You can then data log on a laptop and watch your mixture real time. You might want to preplan for the wiring to the wideband. I wish I would have included in the harness with the stock O2. I did not know I needed until I tried to tune with the POS SCT chip. Good luck. Micah
I have my ECM Velcroed to the bottom of heater/ac .. But if I could have a do over I would not use Factory EFI I would use FITECH EFI system this tuff is so simple and it is self learning
It can be a PIA especially if you modify the motor. A junkyard EFI system can be easy and cheap to install. Also, I prefer a tuned port system to a throttle body. I think OEM got away from that years ago. Comes down to personal preference and cost like everything else. Micah
I was looking at the space behind the dash just didnt know if the harness was long enough to reach that far
