I know there are 100 threads on this but it's taken a while to aggregate the information. I just wanted to check that what I am planning looks fine. Yesterday I did the physical install of a Ford Escort fan after trimming nearly 1" off the shroud. It's close to the fan pulley bolts that's for sure! It doesn't help that I have a very thick aftermarket radiator. I plan on using this wiring diagram to wire it up: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/images/volvo_relay_diagram.PNG I have the Volvo relay and have already installed the BMW thermostat in the thermostat housing with the adapter. The only difference between what I want to do and what that diagram shows is I won't use a toggle but rather just a switched ignition source for the 30/40-amp relay. I see a lot of talk about the Bosch 75-amp relays but I don't see the use for them? I was planning on putting a 30-amp slow blow fuse where the fuse is shown in the diagram. Assuming that all works well, I was also considering playing with a Havis Charge Guard or a timed relay to keep the fan running for a couple minutes after shut down. What say you, Maverick gurus?

[/QUOTE] this was the temp sensor, right? if so, what were the on/off temps.
if there is a# on it you may Google it and get the info. the one I had was...low speed on at 215...high speed 230. this one...Mfg#:61318361787...is L-175-H-190
On the older mtrs I don`t like for the temp to get much over 180.Also I would try to use the after market thermostat that sticks open when it fails.
Got it all wired up today. So far I've only seen one fan speed. I may manually trick it instead of the temp sensor so I know what each sounds like. It only turns on when my gauge says 230 but I've long suspected that gauge is wrong. I'm going to try another gauge once the engine cools down.
make sure all the air is out of the system...jack up the front of the car... you have a pic. of where you mounted the temp sensor?
