    Hello My Maverick/Comet Kin!
    I have a ‘71 Mav, 200 engine.
I discovered that the o-ring flange is a bit loose, probably why I’m getting exhaust smell inside. I replaced the ring a few years ago, I thought I tightened it all the way, but apparently I hadn’t, so the movement of the tailpipe against the ring wore it down, so I need to replace it. My fear is that if I tightened the nuts on the stud tightly, I’ll snap the studs. Instead of replacing the o-ring for now, can I wrap the junction with aluminum tape to stop (or reduce) the exhaust leak? Ideally, I’d just pull out the manifold, replace those studs and the manifold engine block studs, but I don’t have money for that.
    Any thoughts?

If you did it correctly the nuts on studs tighten flange onto the donut, when/if donut burns out nuts are no longer tight.
