i obviously dont notice anything when driving haha, but my dad was following me the other day and said there was quite a bit of fluid comming from the exhaust...... any ideas?

Also, my car backfires pretty hard when im doing about 60 and let off the gas... typical or no?
I adjusted idle and it helped alot but still does it .....

Also, this is off topic, but what gas should i put in a 302? Regular or like premium?

    thanks as always.

btw i saw this from a post awhile back when i did a search...

"...his truck would backfire through the tailpipe if he let off the gas at high RPM's. Ended up pulling out all the pistons and found the culprit,,two of the compression rings on #2 piston were broken into several peices."

that a possiblity? becasue the car runs great...

Your car should run fine on regular gas. The backfiring can be from multiple things, and is not normal. My model A will backfire when i am coasting just before the condensor goes south. To me, the car is giving me advance notice. Your backfiring could be fuel related or possible ignition or even mechanical problem. The fluid coming from your exhaust might be coolant, is your radiator full? Some cars will shoot some condensation out of the exhaust especially in the cold climates for a period upon cold startup, but should quit after a few minutes, and the moisture looks like more than it is.
Keep us posted on your progress of correcting this.

    thanks dan.

Im thinking it may be something ignition wise, my spark plugs are old, and need chanign also, possibly thats a factor as well.

lets hope its nothing too serious.... im running low on cash haha

I dont know what the weather is like where you live but if it is less than 60 and the car was still cold ( depending on the shape of your exhaust) it is probably just condensation in your exhaust system.

If the car has an air pump on it, it's most likely a bad diverter valve causing the back-fire. My 81 Ford truck had the same problem...

I would have no clue as to what the diverter valve is... hhee
