    Question...

Do you have a V-belt system on your '85 up 302? If so, what year/model combination of timing chain cover, water pump and accessory brackets are you using to make it work?

    Thanks,
    Atzy.

    I do

I'm running a v-belt system on my Maverick. It's an 82' 302 with just an alt. at the moment. I stole the crank pulley off a 351w that I have and used the alternator brackets too. In fact I think I took everything off the 351w too make it work. You may have to space the fan pulley a bit with washers. I don't think I've done anything wierd. I'll see if I can get some pics.

    Cool...

What year/model timing chain cover are you using, and does it interfere with anything? Is your dipstick up forward or somewhere in the back?

    Thanks,
    Atzy.

I hope this helps some. I used the 82' timing cover although I may drilled out a hole for the dipstick and plugged the hole in the oil pan. Don't mind my messy and multicolored engine bay I'm planning on fixing that in the summer when there isn't a foot of snow on the car.

    Cool again...

Your alternator mounting looks just like mine, is that an '82 water pump too?

    Continued thanks,
    Atzy.

Actually that is the cast iron water pump that was on the 351w. Eventually I will change it too an aluminium to lose a few pounds. I hope this info helps. Seting this stuff up requires a little imagination if you don't have a similar setup to look at.
I know I tried a few different methods myself.

    Thanks!

Great info there. I have a '77 timing cover with an '85 block and aftermarket balancer, and I'm getting some interference. I hope that with a '81 up timing cover and one of the water pumps I have, I'll be able to make it all work.

    Thanks for the help!

    Yours,
    Atzy.
