ok so i just got done helping a friend get his 1993 ford thunderbird running and we took it for a test drive and the trans is slipping. i was wondering how difficult is it to rebuild an AOD transmission. i work as a hydraulic technician so i'm pretty confident that i can rebuild it but was wanting some advice.

Rebuilding an auto trans really isn't as hard as everyone makes it out to be. Most auto parts stores have a book that covers: c4, c6, c5, and the aod. If I could figure out how to rebuild a c4 and an aod as a teenager, you as a hydraulic tech should have no problem. Sometimes you'll need to get creative when it calls for a special tool you don't have.

thats what i thought i guess i'll have to talk to my buddy and see what he thinks about just rebuilding his trans. it would be better then buying a junkyard unit. i just have never broken into one and am a little hesitant doing it to a friends car. if it was my own i would just jump on it. i have a hard time paying some one to do something i can do myself.
