Anyone have one? My wifes Blazer is about to kick the 4 wheel drive bucket, it's like driving a bulldozer, and I refuse to fix it anymore. She has decided that she should get an Escape, I don't know anyone with one or anyone that has had one, so I'm asking for the good and the bad....A Mustang just won't do it for her, as much as I would like one, she wants something 4 wheel drive.

My wife drives one. We`ve had it for four years and love it. It`s a two wheel drive but it runs great and gets decent milage.

Friend in Detroit has one, a 2002 with 4WD, and they really like it. They did have to replace the trans at about 75K miles.

Sold about a dozen used ones at work in the last 8 months.Worst one needed left front wheel bearing and an upper ball joint(same side) Probably bounced off a curb.I am currently working on buying one for my wife(the Durango is used up)And My sister in law just got an 06 with 10K on it and loves it to death. After working on a bunch of them I dont think you can go wrong for the money.(Trans was re-built in the Durango at 90K)

I never thought of that! Great Idea!!

Thanks for the offer! I have a few retired Ford employees as friends, and I have the paper work for it sitting on my desk.

I think thats what we'll get, but I'm going to let here run the wheels off her Blazer first, just to see how bad it can get, it's never let us down, it's just tired, and amazingly not one spot of rust!

They do have a reputation of having weak transmissions. Put a good cooler on it and it will help.

My wife had a 03 2 wheel drive 6 cyl and loved it. 22-23 mpg. It would tow our boat (~3000lbs) without issue except I would not want to try and pull it out of the water with it. Not an issue with the car, just the 2 wheel drive. She traded it in for a 08 version 2 wheel w/ 4 cyl. 22-23mpg. I threw on a class III hitch but wouldn't think about towing anything over 1000lbs with it. We miss the 6, but love the car.

My F150 now does all of the work. Bought her new in 97 and have had nothing to repair other than the usual maintenance. Ford still knows how to put great product on the road.
