i found an ol 78 bass mouth today.i was looking threw my swap buy and sell mag and seen it in there.i call because its only 1/2 hour from me. guy sead it was rock solid fastback with low miles and a srait 4 in it. just needs a battery for a sticker! he wants 500 for it. should i get it?
Dont' take me wrong, but only you can answer that question. If you want it, get it. I suspect those cars will have a newfound respect one day (like the Mavericks). Personally, I like the styling (of course I'd have to change out those 13" wheels and go to a 302 eventually).
i personally dont like mustang II body style has to be the ugliest , however im sure some say that about the maverick but thats JMO i have seen some nice M2 at the track that can RUN , but like Rick said you want it , get it
A friend of mine had one...a '78 Cobra II. Fun car to drive. His was all original body which was flawless but he swapped in a blown EFI 5.0 and TKO. I think they look fine when done up right. There was a '78 fastback across from a gas station at a neighborhood for years. Finally, one day it was gone...a month later it was back sporting new candy red paint. come to find out, he swapped in a modded Turbocoupe 2.3L four banger. Holley commander 950 EFI, T3/T4 turbocharger...the whole deal. Esslinger head....I never saw him drive it hard, but I'm sure it would haul the mail. A couple weeks ago I saw it at the same house, and the front end was bashed in. Looks like the body is going to be a total loss. I liked the look of that car in the red paint...and I believe it had some Pro Star wheels on it...at least thats what they looked like from a distance. Those cars aren't heavy so a 302 and a 5 speed will make them move.
m2's really are not a bad looking car, i like them alot more than the fox's body style, If the body's good i'd say it was worth it. im sure there arent too many 30 year old cars that far north in good shape, for 500 anyway. as far as value, i think anything "mustang", even the m2's will always have a market, probably more than our mavericks ever will
I agree with Mr Book on this one, if you want it, and can afford it, get it. One day these cars may be more popular, especially the fastbacks. I see them on ebay every once in a while bring pretty good bucks, but not as much as a 65-73 or even a fox body. With a V8 they can be pretty fast, and already have a good front end under them. They are like Mavericks, prone to rust out, so I'd check it out good. Doubt there are any replacement body panels, either, due to the small market for them, but that could change.
Here's a few sources for Mustang II parts: I think you can get a lot of what you might need at: http://www.mustang-unl.com/ http://www.mustangcorral.com/cgi-bi...&aff=&catstr=HOME:m2:exm2&pg=ste_cat&ref=exm2 http://www.sscenterprises.net/ Also, I have a friend of a friend who has a mint black-on-gold King Cobra under raps. It's a beautiful car IMO.
have one in my garage, i really like them. my brother had a king cobra, sold it three years ago for $15,000. on e-bay. of course it had less than 800 original miles on it.
that blue one is sweet, aside from the 4lugs lol I own 2 1974 mustangs in 1:25 scale that is hahah if you ride out to check out that mustang bring a camera
hmmm i m looking for an apartment right now and i just got a job. i think im letting this cool car go to my head. i cant afford it unless somebody wants my comet gt hood scoop and bumper? its a solid fastback thow
Just what do they consider "solid" in Maine? I have talked to guys up north that consider a car with 3+ inch holes in the quarter panels to be "solid", just because the entire car hasn't turned to dust yet. To me, Mustang II's are good for parts. They just don't do it for me. They meet the crusher by the dozens around here. I have seen a Cobra around here several times and it was pretty cool, though. All I can say is if you like the car, and it really is solid, then go for it.
well it was in a barn for 20 years! r qwarters are mint and he took the rug out when he stored it! so the floors are also mint.how easy is it to change a 4 banger into a 86 5.0 in a 78 mustang II?
shouldn't be too hard. didn't some of the mustang ll's come with 302's. if not i've seen a lot of them with them.
