ok, someone has got to hook this deal up! there was a previous post for this car, and I emailed him, and he got back to me. This car is clean, look at that body and bumpers!! DON'T let this goto the crusher!!!! I live to far away to pick it up. The following is the letter he wrote me, and I will post his pics. I know the area well, my ol' stomping grounds were Lakewood Los Alamitos/ Seal Beach. Diamond Springs is in Northern Cal. 45 miles East of Sacramento, right next to Placerville. At present time the car has been registered non-op for several years so the tags are not current. when driven last, it ran great and the newly rebuilt trans shifted like a charm. However, I had just had a leaking head gasket replaced, and when the head was removed for repair the smog pipes (air injection tubes which pump fresh air into the exhaust manifold) were damaged. I drove the car home with the holes (where the tubes connect to the manifold) plugged, and it ran great. After the smog pipe was repaired, I had fits trying to get each of the fittings aligned and threaded into the manifold, and decided to wait until I found someone with more talent or patience to do it. That was two years ago. Other than for it being registered non-op, it would undoubtably need to be towed or trailered, as I'm sure that by now the carb needs a rebuld and cleaning from varnished gas. Interior wise, the headliner is starting to drop. the dash pad has splits. the carpet is toast, and the door pulls are broken (a common occurance apparently) The seats are o.k. with expected wear. To say the least, the car needs work, but it is do-able for someone with the time. I'm working on getting some pictures of it and will e-mail them if you'd like. By the way, this is a '74 302 Merc. Comet (same thing-different name) Thanks for your interest, Cris Farrell
