fuse

    I recently purchased a 96 ford explorer and i keep poping fuse 26 which controls the 4wd, drl system, re deforster, and backup lights. it says it is suppose to be a 10amp seems kinda low but i have worked my way up to 20amp and poped a 20amp so right now i have a 30amp lets c how long that will last if any one knows how to fix it help would be greatly apricated

    With a 30 amp fuse in there you will be fixing alot more than you bargained for when the wiring burns up. Try putting 10 amp fuse back in and try the items it controls one at a time until it blows then at least you have a starting point to look for problem, electrical problems in an auto suck and I am an electrician. Good luck

    Start with the rear window defroster. I think its the easiest to unplug at the window.

    good advice. check your manual first to see what the fuse rating should be. if it is a 10 amp, you can do a whole lot more damage in the long run by putting in the bigger amp fuse. not only that, but you're not fixing the problem just applying a band aid til it reaiil hurts.:)

    I had a dome light once that would keep blowing the fuse change the bulb and it was fixed.

    Bad idea putting a bigger fuse in there! The fuse is blowing for a reason. You're either going to let the magic smoke out of the wiring, or the truck could catch fire...

    idk i had my deforster on when i was going to shcool turned the truck off came out after school strted the truck fuse blew

    it does not seem to be the defroster sometimes it will work for a while and sometimes u stick a new fuse in and pop right away
