    I have a 1976 2 door 250 cid straight 6 engine.

Does anyone know what the gastank capacity is?

Is there a website out there that would have this kind of info?

    Thanks.

Chilton's says that 1975 year was 16 gallons, then in 1976 it went to 19.2 gallons, and then in 1977 it dropped to 16 gallons.

It didn't matter what size engine you had.

So there you go, looks like you have a Maverick with the largest tank!

    Thanks.

I was just a little freaked out and thought my fuel gauge was faulty as I just filled up the tank and the fuel gauge showed half a tank and she took 12.5 gallons.

I guess I would have started wonder the same thing! I think it is pretty cool that 1976 had the largest tank for Maverick/Comet. That means that those Stallion owners now have something else to brag about! :D

Yea, and I just passed emissions and got the plate for it. I was a bit concerned when I was pulling into the emissions place and the engine light went on. They said that would not fail it. I think I have a bad O2 sensor. Would the removal of the tube to the EGR or evap tank help you think? I will put them back on when I have to retest of course. Once the engine is off for awhile then the engine light goes off. All other fluid levels normal so I'm not sure what else could cause the engine light to go on.

Had the windows tinted on both Mavericks today as well. That makes a big difference here in Phoenix area. Looks cool too.

    1977 Gas Tank

The 1977 Maverick gas tank is the bigger tank (19 gallon), just like the 1976's. (Some of the 1975's were bigger, too, after October 1975).

    That's interesting Chilton's listed 77's and 75's as 16 gallons.

Not only do Mavericks not have O2 sensors, they do not have computers, so that engine light is connected to something a little more dangerous than a computer!

Didn't later model 4-door Mavericks have larger fuel tanks than the 2-door models?...

As far as I know all Mavericks had the same, larger, 19 gallon tank after October 1975.

After all the big-bumpered 4-door didn't need to be carrying any more weight! lol:D

I believe your engine light is due to low oil pressure.
