I'm adding some new gauges and trying to cleanup the mess of wires behind the gauge cluster in my '70. At the circuit board connector there's a pair of wires crimped together, violet and black, that I don't see on any of the wiring diagrams I could find. Following the traces on the circuit board they would have provided power to the fuel guage voltage regulator. The black wire is just sticking up and I don't see another black wire that it would have connected to. Violet wire seems to be a solid resistance wire. Anyone else seen this or know where the other end of the violet wire goes? There's a smaller violet wire in the connector that goes to the Low Brake Fluid switch. That's only violet wire on the schematics I've found.

Someone has been playing panky panky with wiring. The black wire on harness I have is for alt excitation & yes it's a resistance wire. Look close should have green dots. The pink/purple wire is for ignition feed, it's connected to #6 in harness I have. .

Thanks. Yeah, the original owner of the car only had it for 2 1/2 years before I bought it but he was really "creative" with some of the wiring. I've had a self-exciting alternator for decades and the EDIS ignition doesn't have points to burn so I don't need either wire. The whole factory cluster has gone away, replaced with aftermarket gauges.
