depends on tire size, car weight, horsepower, torque, altitude, torque converter, transmission, so on and so forth. Some run 6.30's, some run 3.70's. All depends on your car and it's characteristics.

mavman is right, but to help give you some ideal, I have 4.86's in my 9inch rear, 2635 pd. car, c4 tranny(4500 stahl), 28 inch tire on 15 inch rim. horsepower is unknown.
With this set-up, I shift at 6,800 rpm's(well thats when the shift lite comes on ;) ) and I am about 400-500 rpm's aways from shifting again when I go through the traps on the 1/8th mile.
I was able to "de-tune" the car a little bit when we went to Muncie, during the round-up and I did get it to run ALL the way through the 1/4 mile with this same set-up! Granted it was ALOT higher "upstairs" than I want to take my motor, but it did go through the traps with my foot to the floor! :D

Sounds close to mine , 6500rpm shift with 456 gears going through the traps at 7000 rpm . I have a 4200 converter in the C4 Lentech trans . I think a 513 may do the trick in the 1/8th ?
    same slick 28 x 15

Sounds about right for your set-up. I had 4.56 gears in mine with a different motor and it was to much on the 1/8th mile. Thats when I went with the 4.86 gear, but it only changed it a couple 100 rpm's.
With this new motor I am thinking about a 5.30 something gear for the 1/8th mile. But I am going to get a entire new 3rd member, that way I "can" run the 1/4 mile if I want to with the gears I have now.

I am running a 9" slick and have 12.06 at 110mph , will the stock rear suspension hold the footprint with the big gears? I am going with Victor jr's and H-beam rods with lightweight pistons in a fresh mexican block over the winter . Hope to get some big gains here?
    Richard:)

I think it will. When I built the new motor I switched to coil-over and ladder bars. But I think with the natural light weight of the car it can handle it.
I figure that my old motor was about what you got now. I had some low 1.70 sixty foot times, never had it on the 1/4 mile but it ran a 7.70 on the 1/8 with a "little" motor and stock suspension and traction bars.
Plus with all the traction devices out on the market now, you can make it work. Stephen Moore is running low 6's (1/8th) with stock suspension, I think.

Are cars are twins!!! Well almost , I have 1.65 60ft timeslips 7.62 1/8 mile but almost sea level and 39 degees timing:)
Did coil over and ladder bars make a big difference , albeit it leaves more straight now!!!:D

I think I could have ran those times with my old set-up, but I never really got into the timing curves and advances until I got the new motor. I did have a 1.69 sixty foot, once :D
As far as the coil-overs and stuff go, I never ran them with the old motor. But it does go as straight as a arrow with the new engine. Well, atleast it does now that I have it all set correctly. It got a little squirreley on me the first couple passes  :D ;)

Mine is loose with the stock rubber bushings but the lakewood 90/10 front shocks work really well ! It is time to call PST for the front end poly kit , do they carry rear leaf spring bushings and would you know what size they are ?
