Shortly after buying my Mav, I pulled the intake manifold off the 302 and found a 10 inch long screw driver in the lifter valley !
    Weird, huh.

Speaking of finding screwdrivers, we also found one in the lower quarter panel of our 76' Maverick. It was one of those big wooden handle jobbies. Someone had fixed the quarter at one time by loading it up with bondo. The screwdriver must have been laying in the bottom of the quarter and from that time on, it became part of the car. We still have it too. It makes a great prybar.

Last year I offered to sell a rebuilt short block to a friend. It had been sitting for some time, so when I opened up the pan to check it out, I found it was filled with dead lizards!

Apparently they were crawling into thru the flywheel bolt holes in the crank and expiring in the pan! Must have been two dozen of them!

I pulled my back seat out and had to evict the mouse colony out of the car. I put my cat into the car to finish the job.(She did well, and got the last 3). Currently there is something buzzing on top of the transmission, possibly a nest of Georgia yellow jacket hornets. Their days are numbered!!

Speaking of cats, Earl tells a story of buying his 69.5 maverick which came complete with a mother cat and 5 kittens. This beats my mice and hornets hands down.
